Coecobrya sp. 'Tropical'

Springtails are the backbone of any bioactive enclosure. This is a species of springtails that we collected and cultured ourselves, believing it to be a species of Coecobrya. This species is quick to reproduce but not in great volume if conditions are not right. We found that they prefer substrates like ABG over clay or charcoal, though we did have some success with charcoal. When added to an enclosure they will often be found within the top few inches of substrate. They can be used in almost any enclosure environment as long as they have a wet and humid place to retreat to. We have even kept these in arid enclosures but find they stay localized to a water dish.
