Folsomia candida 'Temperate Springtails'

Springtails are the backbone of any bioactive enclosure. This species of Colembolla (Folsomia candida) is a temperate species and can do well in a multitude of environments. They do prefer a wet environment for reproduction and are best cultured on clay or charcoal medias. When added to the enclosure they will often "disappear" prefering to burrow into the substrate, straddling the drainage layer and substrate, and you can often find them hidden within the leaf litter. This is the species we use to feed our dart froglets and in all temperate or tropical enclosures.
